Brooksie ("the App") is a personal reading-tracker app. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your choices regarding that information.
Brooksie stores your library data — book titles, authors, shelf status, reading progress, notes, genres, tropes, badges, goals, and shelf customization preferences — locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData/CloudKit framework. If you are signed in to iCloud, this data may sync across your own devices via your personal iCloud account, which Brooksie does not have access to or control over beyond standard CloudKit APIs.
When you use the barcode scan, shelf scan, or search features to look up book information, the App sends the scanned/searched text or images to third-party book metadata APIs (such as Google Books or similar providers) solely to retrieve book details (title, author, cover, description). No personally identifying information is included in these requests beyond the book data itself.
Brooksie offers an optional one-time "Pro" unlock via Apple's In-App Purchase system (StoreKit). Purchase transactions are processed entirely by Apple; Brooksie does not collect or store your payment information.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal library data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Data may be transmitted to book metadata providers as described above, solely to power the App's search and scanning features.
Your library data is stored locally on your device and, if enabled, in your personal iCloud account. You can delete your data at any time by deleting books from within the App or by deleting the App itself, which removes all locally stored data.
Brooksie is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
